What’s New in InDesign 2027 + Adobe MAX Recap

What’s new in InDesign—and which of the changes will actually matter to the way you work?

Conrad Chavez returns for IDUG’s annual look at the newest version of InDesign, including the growing role of AI inside the application. We’ll look at new and evolving features such as AI Assistant, Rewrite and Fit Text, accessibility improvements, and other changes introduced over the past year that may have escaped your notice.

Rather than simply checking off a list of new features, we’ll consider what they can actually do, where they fit into a real InDesign workflow, and which ones may be worth adding to yours.

Conrad will also report on the highlights of Adobe MAX 2026, with particular attention to developments elsewhere in the Adobe ecosystem that are relevant to InDesign users—including tools that can make common image-editing tasks faster and easier.

As always, there will be time for questions, discussion, and probably a little speculation about where InDesign is headed next.

Conrad Chavez

Conrad Chavez is an accomplished author and expert in digital photography, graphic design, and video production workflows. He has been the author of the official Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a Book since the 2023 edition, and co-authored the 2015–2022 editions.

His expertise extends to color management, with video tutorials such as Color Management for Photographers and Designers and Color Management without the Jargon. Chavez has contributed to the Adobe Certified Associate Exam Preparation guides for software like Adobe InDesign, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. For CreativePro Magazine, Conrad has written articles about Adobe InDesign and he reports on Adobe MAX every year.
