Regular Meeting

So You Know InDesign. Now What?

Thursday, March 15, 2018

7-10 p.m.

El Camino College

Haag Recital Hall, 16007 Crenshaw Blvd., Torrance, CA 90506

So you're a designer, or you're learning to be a designer, or you're a designer and you're thinking about something else. Or (d) none of the above.

Jonathan Levit, who is simultaneously a TV and movie actor (e.g., The X-Files, FlashForward, Club du Cuervos), a professional magician and magic consultant (e.g., Magic Castle, Now You See Me, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone) and a graphic designer and production artist, is the perfect person to help you though it.

What we'll discuss:

  • Getting validation either with a degree or with Adobe certification—or both
  • Working for an agency, in-house at a company, or as a freelancer
  • The graphics world beyond InDesign
  • Getting rich with InDesign, or maybe not
  • Kicking graphics to the curb altogether

In other words:

  • Getting a job

Location and Parking

The meeting will take place in the Haag Recital Hall, which is north of the Music Building/Campus Theatre, and west of the Math/Business/Allied Health Building. Do not confuse either Haag Recital Hall or the Campus Theatre with huge Marsee Auditorium.

There is no on-campus free parking. Parking is available on-campus after 6:30 p.m. for a flat fee of $3 through self-service kiosks. The kiosks only accept three $1 bills. No coins, no change, no credit cards. Closest lots to the Haag Recital Hall are Lots J, K, H, and L.

Farthest Attendee

The bona fide LAIDUG member who travels the farthest specifically to attend the meeting will receive her or his choice of any one deal at MightyDeals up to $50.00. You  need to prove to us that you traveled farthest to attend this meeting. Having recently moved to the area from somewhere else won't cut it. Be prepared to show us indication of your current residence—perhaps a driver's license or a utility bill. Decision of the administrators of the Los Angeles InDesign User Group is final.

LAIDUG meetings are free. The group is supported by raffles of donated prizes. No one is required to participate in the raffles. Raffle tickets are: 1 for $3, 2 for $5, 5 for $10, 11 for $20, 24 for $40, 32 for $50 and 65 for $100. All major credit cards are accepted.
