Zoom Chat Q&A

Q: Is there a link that shows what all of these page formats look like?

A: Intro video showing various types of page formats: https://ajarproductions.com/pages/products/in5/?ref=footer

Q: Would love to be able to see a gallery of sorts of projects or pub samples that were made with these features and tools?

A1: Here is the Customer Showcase with sample projects. https://ajarproductions.com/pages/products/in5/showcase.php#

A2: Here are more customer examples: https://ajarproductions.com/in5course/?lesson=examples

A3: Here are some videos and demo files: https://ajarproductions.com/pages/products/in5/demos.php

Q: What if you have created an interactive ebook with InDesign and in5? What does the export process look like?

A: You actually export to HTML5 from the in5 menu. You aren't exporting to iBook/ebook. All of the exported in5 content — regardless of page format — is HTML5

Q: Can the video autoplay?

A: Yes, here is an article about Autoplaying Audio and Video with InDesign and in5:

https://ajar.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/26000031222-autoplaying-audio-video-with-indesign-in5

Q: Can you customize that x button?

A: Yes, all of the parts of the pop-up are made from InDesign objects

Q: Can I export more documents together as a book, like the export in PDF over the book function? For example 10 chapters?

A1: There are a couple of options. If you have a book set up, there's a script you can use to merge it.

Then you'd export that. Here's the script: https://creativepro.com/topic/collect-individual-files-contained-in-a-bookin-

one-indd-document/#post-84867

A2: You can set up a main document, export it and all of the other documents separately, and then link

from the main doc to the others https://ajarproductions.com/blog/2017/03/13/link-from-one-document-toanother-

with-indesign-and-in5

Q: So everything has to be in .png format?

A: No, you can use other formats for the image sequence.

Q: Can you also use AE for exporting images?

A: Yes, you would export an image sequence to a folder, then in in5, select that folder

Q: Is there any other way to have a responsive layout without creating two different sizes?

A: Yes, in that it can scale with Desktop Scaling or Liquid Layout. It's more of a flexible layout https://ajarproductions.com/in5course/?lesson=flexlayouts

Q: So the in5 features would work if you use InDesign's publish online function?

A1: It would work in that it's an InDesign document, so features like the pop-up or the menu are built with InDesign features, but Publish Online is different from in5

A2: This article has some info about Publish Online (scroll down a bit)

https://ajarproductions.com/blog/2018/03/26/interactive-pdf-is-dead-heres-what-you-can-create-fromindesign-thats-even-better/

A1: The states are created with InDesign’s Interactive Panel called “Object States”

A2: You can make the graphics or import them and then make them into states

Q: I am using InDesign CS6. Does in5 work on CS6?

A: Yes, in5 will work with CS6

Q: I publish a stamp journal for a non-profit. Does in5 have special pricing for a non profit?

A1: Because of the high level of technical support provided by the Ajar Productions team, there are not any student discounts or non-profit discounts. If anyone would like to download the free trial of in5, it's available here: https://ajarproductions.com/pages/products/in5/download.php

A2: Here are the prices for the various plans: https://ajarproductions.com/pages/products/in5/purchase.php

A1: You can use the Mobile Article Explorer with pixel perfect text: https://ajarproductions.com/blog/2017/10/23/mobile-article-explorer-in5-v3-1-sneak-peek/

A2: Here's more info on accessibility: https://ajarproductions.com/blog/2017/07/24/how-to-export-accessible-508-compliant-html-layouts-from-indesign/

A: Here's the in5 WordPress plugin: https://ajarproductions.com/blog/2017/04/10/instant-publishing-from-indesign-and-in5-with-wordpress-plugin/ We don't have a plugin for Blogger — you could check to see if you can embed the in5 content in a iframe.

Q: Does in5 have capabilities that allow data in tables to be filterable and/or sortable at all?

A: You could try embedding a Google Sheets spreadsheet

Q: Could we build a wheel like that in In5?

A1: I have a spinning wheel in one of the videos in this playlist (made with in5): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoE15JC0nv3bnMjVWH7qSSgYLR3GYvfmC

A2: Or you could build a wheel in Animate, export it as an OAM file, place that in ID and export with in5: https://ajarproductions.com/blog/2017/09/18/sophisticated-animation-interactivity-into-indesign-out-to-html5-in5-v3-1-sneak-peek/
