Los Angeles InDesign User Group
Ad Agency Workflow, plus InDesign CS5.5
Thursday, May 19, 2011
Ogilvy & Mather, 3530 Hayden Avenue, Culver City, California 90232
New, Later Meeting Time
With the highest attendance so far at our last meeting, it looks like the decision to change to a later meeting time is a winner. So for all of you who need to drive a bit, you can now drive a bit slower. The start time has been moved from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Meetings will end at 10 p.m. (or thereabouts).
Why do we get so excited when a new version (of anything) comes out? Time was this excitement was limited to new cars and film premieres. Now we pant in anticipation of a new white phone.
Well, if a new phone gets your juices slowing, get ready for Creative Suite CS5.5 including a updated version of InDesign. The program's new and enhanced tools increase your ability to handle interactivity, video, and audio for playback on tablets, smartphones and computers. Find out all about it at our next meeting.
InDesign at Ogilvy
At most InDesign User Group meetings, we discuss specific features of the program. We'll do that at this meeting too with the release of InDesign CS5.5. But in addition, a panel of Ogilvy & Mather designers will talk about their use of InDesign during the course of their day-to-day work. We'll get a peek into the agency's work flow, from receiving initial work orders through in-house proofing.
Ogilvy & Mather, an international advertising, marketing and public relations agency based in Manhattan, operates 497 offices in 125 countries with approximately 16,000 employees. Interestingly enough, the very first meeting of our user group was held at Ogilvy, so this meeting makes a return to where we were born.
About the Presenters
Andrew Keith Strauss will discuss InDesign CS5.5. Andrew has all the initials -- ACTP, ACI, ACE, CTT -- which basically means that Adobe has decided the guy is an expert and knows what’s doing. He is a cofounder of the Los Angeles InDesign User Group as well as the InDesign User Groups in New York and Chicago. When Adobe first released InDesign in 1999, they called Andrew to assist in moving their major customers from Quark to the new program.
The Ogilvy & Mather designers describing their work will be Phil Libertore, a 1992 graduate of the Platt College Design Program; Bryon Hutchens, a 1996 graduate of the East Carolina University Communication Arts Program; and Art Ziegler, who has over 20 years experience working with several leading agencies.
